Instruments Field Engineer

Position Overview: To provide engineering expertise in the Instrumentation and Process Controls for the execution of EPC projects, as well as Engineering and Construction skills, including field experience (where the candidate is required to continue the assignment through to the construction phase).

Work collaboratively with commissioning and construction team, subcontractors, design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and other internal personnel. 

Instrumentation

• P&ID Understanding (Ability to modify, mark-up and discuss with other departments and owner, desirable).
  
• Specification, selection and technical tabulation of instruments.
• Sizing, selection and TBE of Control Valves and Safety valves (basic)
• Level instrument specification and selection, and vessels sketches elaboration /modification.
• Instruments Index and I/O lists (basic knowledge of SPI-Intools app, desirable).
• Provide realistic and practical technical solutions to operational engineering challenges.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities.

Process Control

• Database management (SP-Intoos desirable), alarm lists, I/O list.
• C&E diagrams & Control Narratives understanding
• Logic diagrams (at least compression).
• Instrument loop diagrams (ILD).
• Knowledge of DCS /ESD related to marshalling cabinets wiring and signal types and instrument wiring and connection.
• Experience in DCS/ESD FAT, brands Honeywell, Yokogawa, Schneider (desirable).
• Knowledge of PLCs of traditional brands such as A-B, ABB Siemens, Schneider (desirable)

Vendor Packages and equipment

• Knowledge of typical vendor documents such as control architecture, P&ID, JB/panel wiring, cable and I/O lists, diagrams, C&E diagrams, logic and control narratives among others, of equipment such as pumps, centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, boilers.
• Integration of these equipment to DCS/ESD via digital communication or hardwired.
• Ability to propose solutions and/or modifications (red-marked) to packages or the DCS/ESD.
• Knowledge of MMS, wiring and configuration of vibration and temperature sensors.

Requirements:

• BSc Electrical / Electronic / Systems / Process Control Engineering.
• 7-12 years of experience in instrument and control engineering in the oil, gas or petrochemical industry
• Knowledge of basic instrumentation and control including flow, level, pressure, temperature and process analysis
• Experience in the field of instrument selection in relation to process applications
• Knowledge of boiler control, process heater control and process furnace control.
• Knowledgeable of electrical systems for instrumentation, including cabling, wiring methods, grounding, materials, control circuits. In addition, hazardous area design implementation shall be part of candidate’s experience
• Very knowledgeable with a wide variety of national and international standards, especially related to ISA, ANSI, ASME, API, NFPA and IEC
• Experience with Distributed Control System (DCS) and Emergency Shutdown System (ESD) and their implementation. Experience with Foundation Fieldbus is a must.
• Knowledge of selection and installation of field instruments, cables, enclosures, trays, hazardous area installations and grounding
• Good knowledge of English, both written and verbal
