Job Description

We are a heritage leather goods brand undergoing major reconstruction and expanding to new international markets. We are creating a new design team and studio in Istanbul. For our international team we are looking for highly creative and ambitious designers to join this very exciting growth stage for our company. 

We are looking for a Fashion Accessories (bags, small leather goods) Designer / Product Designer / Design Specialist to work on various product categories we develop for our customers. Product Designer / Design Specialist responsibilities include analysis of market needs, follow up of trends, research and development of new ideas, materials and techniques, conceptualizing products, defining product specifications, creating drawings and designing fully functional and aesthetically appealing products, managing modeling and prototypes, collaboration with the team to ensure that the product is created within project specifications and expectations. The main role is managing and following up the whole process starting from the initial sketch to the realization of the finished products to be launched to end-users. Understanding and experience in design and production processes, evaluation of the credibility of the design and providing solutions for possible issues relating to the actual production of the design and ability to translate requirements into practical product features are essential for the role.

The ultimate goal is to build positive experience for customers through unique, distinctive, functional design solutions and development and management of up-to-date, efficient and effective design realization processes in collaboration with relevant teams and departments.

Responsibilities

Research for materials, trends, products, details and techniques

Understanding trends within the scope of the industry they are working in, preparation of trend reports, moodboards and design proposals for new products

Understand customer needs and requirements through design briefs

Define design requirements based on briefs from internal teams and external partners

Analysis and development of new products in accordance with market needs and consumer preferences

Presenting concept visualization, design concepts through sketch drafts on paper or digitally

Use 3D modeling software to design products and components and hardware

Produce prototypes and test functionality and overseeing design changes and improvements throughout the development process

Improve and develop the design of existing products

Integrating technical and visual solutions into a design concept by crafting technical specifications of products considering budgets and materials

Follow up and management of prototyping, sampling and production processes from sketch to end-product

Preparation of product cost / profitability reports

Work together with design, modelling, planning, merchandising and sampling teams to establish production processes

Gather feedback from product users

Requirements

Bsc / Ba / Msc / Ma degrees in Accessories Design, Fashion Design or Product design fields

Work experience as a Product Designer / Fashion Designer or similar role in fashion / product design industry

Experience in  fashion design and the development of collection matrixes, products, creativity in mixing up colors, forms, materials and techniques

Creativity in proposing new product design concepts, solutions, ideas and techniques

Interest in research and development of new techniques, materials, design ideas and etc.

Proficiency in hand drawing & sketching skills is necessary

Hands-on experience with and proficiency in computer-aided design and 3D modelling software (CAD, Rhino, etc.)

Experience with and proficiency in design programs (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)

Adaptability and good communication skills as a team worker

Ability to understand technological elements and constraints

Strong problem-solving, organizational and time and project-management abilities

Creative and analytical mind and attention to detail

Proficiency in English is a must
