At Koç University we are looking for a Career Advisor with the below mentioned qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in administrative / social / natural sciences or engineering
  • Master’s degree in human resources, psychology or psychological counseling is a big asset (especially if the major is not a social science degree)
  • Certifications related to coaching or career development (such as GCDF) is a plus
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience, preferably but not limited to human resources, career advising / coaching
  • Willingness to interact daily and frequently with undergraduate / graduate students and alumni regarding their career development needs
  • Ability to relate to students and alumni, understanding their expectations and priorities, making them feel comfortable in seeking advice
  • Thorough understanding of and commitment to the goals and responsibilities of the centralized career services concept
  • Demonstrable competencies such as collaboration with others, problem solving and teamwork
  • Oral and written communication skills including the ability to make effective group presentations and to describe programs and provide information with clarity
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and implement programs/career development related projects, focusing on getting optimum results in a timely manner
  • Strong willingness for self-development in technical, knowledge-wise and skill-wise aspects of career development
  • Fluency in English (speaking and writing)
  • Advance knowledge of MS Office applications
  • No military obligation for male candidates


  • Serving as career counselor for all currently enrolled undergraduate/masters students and alumni to guide them through their career management process
  • Administering and interpreting individual interest, skills, abilities and value assessment instruments to help advisees increase self-awareness and make better career choices
  • Providing advisees individual assistance in defining career options in profit, non-profit, government organizations, in academic track or entrepreneurial initiatives
  • Supporting advisees for getting ready for their first employment, by helping them to improve their job-search skills and career readiness competencies
  • Assess individual career development needs and provide students the skills necessary to understand the ramifications of their career decisions and actions
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and information about career fields to assure advisees receive high quality and current advisory service
  • Planning and executing numerous campus-wide career development seminars and workshops including classroom presentations by faculty or professionals to support students on their career management process
  • Being a part in planning and managing specific Career Development Center’s informational programs to be presented to incoming students and their parents during the orientation or similar events to share information and the importance of career management
  • Strong willingness to be involved in Career Development Center’s projects, such as standardization of the tools and processes, development of employer relations, content development and implementation of career related seminars and trainings, etc.
  • Supporting the planning and execution of all career-related activities to ensure effective management of Career Development Center
