Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Air Cargo Operations Officerr to oversee and manage our air freight operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in air freight logistics, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of optimizing operations and achieving operational excellence. The Air Cargo Operations Officer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of air freight operations, including planning, coordination, execution, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational activities :
- Oversee day-to-day air freight operations, ensuring timely and efficient handling of shipments.
- Coordinate with airlines, ground handlers, customs authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor and manage flight schedules, cargo capacities, and space allocations to optimize resource utilization.
- Implement best practices and standard operating procedures to enhance operational efficiency and minimize errors.
- Address operational issues and resolve any challenges or discrepancies that may arise.
- Transport Calculations:
- Utilize transport calculation tools and software to determine optimal routing, freight rates, and transit times.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses to evaluate different transportation options and select the most cost-effective solutions.
- Calculate freight charges, including air freight rates, fuel surcharges, handling fees, and other applicable charges.
- Estimate transportation costs for budgeting and pricing purposes, taking into account factors such as distance, weight, volume, and mode of transport.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate cost allocation and billing for transportation services.
- Customer Service and Relationship :
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and service providers to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Act as a point of contact for customer inquiries, concerns, and escalations, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
- Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to identify opportunities for service improvement and expansion of business opportunities.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and industry standards governing air freight operations.
- Monitor adherence to quality control procedures and standards, implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain high-quality service delivery.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of [3] years of experience in air freight operations management, with a strong understanding of international air cargo transportation processes and regulations.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and team members.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, analyze data, and develop effective solutions.
- Proficiency in relevant software and systems used in air freight operations, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously, with a focus on meeting deadlines and achieving business objectives.
- Knowledge of customs regulations, international trade compliance, and industry best practices in air freight logistics.
